Tasting Characteristics

Luxardo Maraschino Originale dates back to 1821 when Girolamo Luxardo founded the distillery in Zara (present-day Zadar). Crafted from Marasca cherries — whole fruit including pits, stalks and leaves — distilled then matured in ash vats, this liqueur offers elegance and depth beyond typical fruit liqueurs.

Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma/Nose: Aromas of dark Marasca cherries, hints of almond from the pits, orchard fruit, light herbal and wood nuance.
Secondary
Palate/Taste: Smooth yet precise; cherry fruit opens, followed by tartness, nutty pit-derived almond edge, subtle vanilla and spice underpinning.
Tertiary
Finish: Medium length; dry, crisp cherry-pit bitterness, almond echo, then lingering fruit that invites another sip.
Gastronomy

Serve chilled or use sparingly in cocktails — staple in classics like the Aviation or Martinez. Its orchard-cherry & almond profile makes it a refined choice alongside dark chocolate desserts, fruit tarts, or nut-forward aged cheeses.
