Tasting CharacteristicsMonte Faustino’s La Traversagna Ripasso 2020 embodies the classic style of Valpolicella’s historic zone. After primary fermentation, the wine undergoes Ripasso, being refermented on Amarone skins, gaining texture, depth and warmth. Ageing in large barrels integrates spice and tannin, while preserving the estate’s traditional, elegant balance. The 2020 vintage is generous but not heavy — combining Amarone-like richness with fresh Valpolicella lift.
Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma/Nose: Black cherry, dried plum, red currant, cocoa, sweet tobacco, baking spice, leather and hints of balsamic herbs.
Secondary
Palate/Taste: Medium+ body, smooth and warming. Flavours of ripe cherry, blackberry, dried fruit, chocolate, licorice and savory spice. Tannins are rounded, acidity balanced, texture velvety but not overly dense — a perfect Ripasso equilibrium.
Tertiary
Finish: Long, warm and gently spicy, with notes of cherry, cocoa and dried herbs.
