Tasting Characteristics

Zeni 1870 Vigne Alte Valpolicella Superiore DOC 2022 represents the more traditional, less extracted side of Valpolicella Superiore. Made from native varieties typical of the area, the wine emphasizes purity of fruit and structural balance rather than concentration from drying or Ripasso techniques. Oak aging is used with restraint, adding subtle spice and depth while allowing red fruit and natural acidity to remain at the forefront. This is a composed, food-oriented Valpolicella with clear regional identity.

Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma/Nose: Red cherry, sour cherry, and red currant, layered with notes of violet, dried herbs, light spice, and a gentle almond nuance.
Secondary
Palate/Taste: Medium-bodied and dry, with fresh red fruit, moderate tannins, and lively acidity. The texture is smooth and well-proportioned, offering clarity rather than weight. Oak influence is subtle and supportive.
Tertiary
Finish: Clean and medium-plus in length, with lingering red fruit, herbal notes, and a lightly savory, dry close.
Gastronomy

Serve at 15–17°C to emphasize freshness and aromatic definition. This Valpolicella Superiore pairs naturally with pasta dishes, risotto, roasted poultry, veal, and lightly grilled meats. Its balance and acidity also make it an excellent match for cured meats and semi-aged cheeses, especially within classic Italian cuisine.
