Tasting Characteristics

Camins del Priorat is Álvaro Palacios’ approachable bottling from one of Spain’s most compelling red-wine regions. The 2022 vintage blends Grenache (54 %), Carignan (11 %), Cabernet Sauvignon (15 %), Syrah (10 %) and Merlot (6 %) from ledge-slate (llicorella) soils across eight villages in Priorat. The winemaking emphasises site clarity: destemmed grapes, native yeasts, modest maceration and restrained new oak. The result is a wine that channels slate minerality, red and black berry fruit and crisp tannins into an elegant, energetic package.

Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma / Nose: Dark cherry and raspberry, violet and white pepper, slate-dust and a hint of graphite.
Secondary
Palate / Taste: Medium-plus body with fine-textured tannins, a backbone of black berry and pomegranate, crisp acidity and a stony mineral thread that gives lift and focus.
Tertiary
Finish: Long and clean, with lingering red-fruit echoes, mineral slate grip and subtle spice — framed rather than buried by oak.
Gastronomy

Serve around 16-18 C and allow about 30 minutes of decanting to open layers of berry, slate and spice. This wine is ideal with char-grilled lamb chops, herb-crusted pork tenderloin, beef stewed in red wine, tomato-based Mediterranean dishes or aged manchego cheese. The mineral backbone and polished tannins make it especially suited to richer yet balanced dishes — engaging without overwhelming. Based on pairing frameworks emphasising acid-tannin-mineral synergy.
