Tasting Characteristics

Les Terrasses represents Álvaro Palacios’ vision of what the Priorat can achieve when old vines, steep terraces and minerality converge. Though originally conceived as an “entry” level, it has matured into a serious wine articulating the region’s character: Garnacha and Cariñena driven vines on llicorella soils facing north-west for cooler ripening. In 2022 it shows ripe, generous fruit cued with the minerality and structure typical of the estate’s top wines.

Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma / Nose: Bright ruby colour with violet rim. Aromas of dark cherry, fresh raspberry, licorice, white pepper, crushed slate and a hint of Mediterranean herbs.
Secondary
Palate / Taste: Medium-plus body with polished, fine-grained tannins. The core offers black cherry and red berry, pomegranate, subtle soot and cocoa notes from barrel maturation. Underpinning these is a brisk acidity and unmistakable stony mineral thread—giving lift and focus.
Tertiary
Finish: Long and lingering: black fruit echo, slate dust, tobacco leaf and a suggestion of sweet spice (clove, nutmeg). Balanced and energetic rather than overwhelmingly dense.
Gastronomy

Serve at 16-18 C and decant for 30–45 minutes to allow the aromatic layers and tannin structure to soften. This wine is ideal for bold Mediterranean-inspired cuisine: lamb chops with rosemary and garlic, oxtail ragout, chorizo-studded paella, Catalan-style roasted pork with prunes, or aged sheep’s cheese (Manchego Curado) and Iberian ham. Its firm tannins and minerality align beautifully with grilled red meats, game birds and richly flavoured dishes — following the key pairing principle of matching structure, intensity and mineral-backed freshness.
