Tasting Characteristics

Lucien 2024 showcases Adrien Berlioz’s mastery of Mondeuse — Savoie’s signature red variety known for its floral lift and peppery energy. Grown on limestone and morainic soils around Chignin, the grapes deliver bright acidity and taut structure. Fermentation in steel preserves purity, while subtle ageing in neutral vessels adds finesse without masking the grape’s natural vibrancy. The 2024 vintage is especially aromatic and precise: floral, spicy, mineral and wonderfully drinkable, yet with enough tension to stand up to alpine cuisine.

Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma/Nose: Violet, black pepper, blueberry, wild blackberry, pomegranate, mountain herbs, graphite and a hint of smoked stone.
Secondary
Palate/Taste: Fresh, lifted and spicy. Crunchy red and black berries meet floral notes, cracked pepper, light herbal tones and a distinct mineral line. Tannins are fine but present, acidity bright and alpine, giving the wine verticality and energy.
Tertiary
Finish: Long, peppery and mineral — violets, crushed berries and graphite linger with clean precision.
Gastronomy

Serve slightly chilled (14–15 C). Lucien 2024 excels with alpine and savory dishes: charcuterie, grilled sausage, roast chicken with herbs, mushroom dishes, lamb chops, tartiflette with reblochon, raclette-style vegetables, or spiced vegetable stews. Its peppery lift and freshness also make it excellent with Asian-inspired dishes featuring ginger or soy.
