Tasting Characteristics

First released to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Lagavulin Distillery, Lagavulin 8YO is a vibrant expression that pays tribute to the brand’s early house style — bold, smoky, and bracingly fresh.

Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma/Nose: Crisp peat smoke, lemon zest, brine, and light malt sweetness, with subtle notes of vanilla and oak.
Secondary
Palate/Taste: Lively and smoky – ash, fresh herbs, sea spray, and citrus blend with pepper, barley, and subtle vanilla.
Tertiary
Finish: Long and dry, with lingering smoke, salt, and a touch of lemon and spice.
Gastronomy

Perfect for fans of intense yet youthful Islay whiskies. Pair with oysters, smoked salmon, or grilled seafood to enhance its maritime edge. It also works beautifully with dark chocolate or aged pecorino cheese. Serve neat or with a drop of water to open the citrus and peat balance.
