Springbank 12 Year Old Cask Strength 2025 is bottled at natural strength and represents one of the distillery’s most honest annual statements. Matured in a multi-cask composition dominated by bourbon casks, supported by sherry and rum wood, it captures Springbank’s layered DNA without cosmetic smoothing. Produced entirely on site, from floor malting to bottling, it reflects the distillery’s commitment to full process control and traditional methods. This release is less about refinement and more about structure, tension, and depth, rewarding experienced drinkers who value transparency over polish.

Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma / Nose: Explosive and maritime. Lemon oil, green apple, damp barley, engine oil, sea spray, and earthy peat, with underlying notes of vanilla and dried fruit.
Secondary
Palate / Taste: Powerful and oily. Citrus peel, salted caramel, toasted oak, white pepper, ginger, and subtle molasses unfold in layers. The rum casks add faint tropical warmth without overt sweetness, while sherry contributes depth and spice.
Tertiary
Finish: Very long and assertive. Drying oak, mineral salt, soft smoke, citrus bitterness, and lingering spice remain firmly in place.
Gastronomy

Best enjoyed neat in a tulip glass, with time and optional water to unlock balance. The whisky’s intensity and salinity demand equally structured food. Smoked or grilled meats echo its earthy and peaty depth, while oily fish such as mackerel or smoked salmon mirror the coastal profile.
