Tasting Characteristics

Bardos Viñedos de Altura 2021 hails from vineyards situated at elevation in Ribera del Duero — the “Altura” hinting at height and cooler conditions. The wine is crafted from Tempranillo (locally Tinto Fino) and matured in French oak (14 months) to add complexity while preserving site expression. Reviews speak of dusty tannins, peppery spices, stony minerality and deep dark fruit.

Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma / Nose: Rich aromas of black cherry, fresh plum, subtle cedar, tobacco leaf and cracked pepper. A mineral tone of stone and altitude emerges.
Secondary
Palate / Taste: Medium-plus body with firm yet fine tannins. Flavours include dark plum, ripe cherry, blackcurrant, complemented by vanilla and toast from oak, and a cool, stony mineral streak. Balanced acidity lifts the richness, offering freshness.
Tertiary
Finish: Long and structured, with lingering dark fruit echo, spiced tobacco and a mineral undertow that keeps the finish crisp and upright rather than heavy.
Gastronomy

Serve at 16-18 C and decant for ~30 minutes to open the aromas. Excellent partner to grilled rib-eye, slow-roasted lamb shoulder, game bird with juniper, or aged sheep’s milk cheese. The wine’s structure, depth and minerality support rich, flavour-forward fare while maintaining balance and elegance.
