Tasting Characteristics

Ried Lamm is a south-facing, warm, loess-rich grand vineyard at the foot of the Heiligenstein. Gobelsburg’s 2017 bottling captures the intensity and depth the site is known for: ripe fruit, firm structure, smoky-mineral complexity and classic Grüner peppery spice. Partial large-oak ageing adds texture and dimension without heaviness. The 2017 vintage, warm yet balanced, delivered exceptional concentration and ageworthiness — this is a serious, gastronomic wine built for longevity.

Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma/Nose: Ripe pear, yellow apple, quince, white pepper, fennel, warm spice, smoky loess minerality, chamomile and hints of honeycomb.
Secondary
Palate/Taste: Textured, powerful and elegant. Layers of ripe orchard fruit, citrus oil, white pepper, crushed herbs, warm stone, subtle nuttiness and delicate oak roundness. Vibrant acidity balances the wine’s richness, giving it lift and precision.
Tertiary
Finish: Long, spicy and mineral-driven, with lingering pepper, ripe fruit and warm earth tones — a hallmark of Ried Lamm.
Gastronomy

Serve at 10–12°C in a large white-wine glass. This Grüner excels with elevated dishes: veal in cream sauce, roasted poultry, schnitzel, pork belly, monkfish, seared scallops, Alpine cheeses, mushroom ragouts, truffle dishes, or hearty vegetable cuisine. Its spice, power and minerality pair beautifully with rich textures and aromatic cooking.
