Tasting CharacteristicsRied Renner sits at the base of the famed Gaisberg hill, with loess-rich soils that deliver depth, ripeness and a signature peppery-mineral tension. Gobelsburg’s 2021 vintage reflects an exceptional cool-yet-balanced year: crystalline acidity, refined fruit, and a taut structure that promises longevity. Partial ageing in large neutral casks adds gentle creaminess, maintaining purity while enhancing texture.
The Experience
Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma/Nose: White pepper, ripe pear, yellow apple, quince, crushed herbs, warm stone minerality, subtle spice, hints of fennel and chamomile.
Secondary
Palate/Taste: Elegant but firm. Orchard fruit, citrus oil, herbal spice and a distinctive mineral line. Fine phenolic grip adds structure, while acidity remains bright and precise. Layers unfold with air, revealing depth and finesse.
Tertiary
Finish: Long, peppery, mineral and refined, with herbal and stone-fruit accents lingering persistently.
GastronomyServe at 10–12°C. Excellent with veal, roast chicken, pork loin, Wiener schnitzel, monkfish, scallops, truffle and mushroom dishes, Alpine cheeses and herb-driven vegetable cuisine. Its peppery tension and mineral precision elevate both rich and delicate dishes.
