Tasting CharacteristicsA benchmark expression of Kamptal terroir — Gobelsburg Grüner Veltliner Steinsetz 2022 captures the pure energy of its loess and gravel soils. The wine glides from citrus and green apple brightness to a spicy, stony core. White pepper, minerality, and subtle creaminess weave together in perfect tension, creating a finish that’s long, clean, and mouthwatering.
Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma/Nose: Aromatic and refined, opening with white pepper, green apple, and pear, followed by nuances of citrus peel, crushed stone, and subtle herbal tones.
Secondary
Palate/Taste: Dry, focused, and elegant — flavors of lime, quince, and green pear unfold over a textured mineral backbone. A gentle creaminess from lees aging balances its vibrant acidity.
Tertiary
Finish: Persistent and precise, leaving impressions of white pepper, wet stone, and ripe citrus with a touch of salinity.
GastronomyA natural match for Austrian and Central European cuisine — try it with Wiener schnitzel, grilled trout, or herbed chicken. Its peppery freshness complements seafood, asparagus, and sushi, while its mineral depth enhances goat cheese and vegetable risottos. Serve chilled at 9–11 °C to reveal its balance of spice and minerality.
