Tasting Characteristics

Château Montrose 2017 expresses the estate’s disciplined, terroir-driven style: Cabernet Sauvignon defines the structure, while Merlot adds flesh and roundness. The vintage produced wines of tension rather than opulence, and Montrose channels this into a profile of purity, restraint and classical Left-Bank definition. Expect dark berries, graphite, fresh acidity and finely sculpted tannins — a wine of quiet power and impressive aging potential.

Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma / Nose: Blackcurrant, blackberry, graphite, cedarwood, tobacco leaf, wet gravel, pepper spice and a faint earthy, ferrous Saint-Estèphe note.
Secondary
Palate / Taste: Focused, structured and elegant. Cassis and black cherry lead, followed by cedar spice, graphite, crushed stone and savory herbs. Tannins are firm but polished; acidity is fresh, giving lift and clarity.
Tertiary
Finish: Long, mineral and persistent — graphite, dark berries, cedar and subtle earthiness linger with refined dryness.
Gastronomy

Serve at 18 C and decant for 1 hour. Montrose 2017 pairs beautifully with robust, savory dishes: roast lamb, rib-eye steak, venison, duck breast, mushroom ragout, beef bourguignon, or dishes with truffle. For cheese, choose firm, aged varieties like Comté, matured cheddar, aged Gouda or tomme-style Alpine cheeses.
