Château Mouton Rothschild 2011 reflects a vintage guided by precision rather than sheer power. Cabernet Sauvignon dominates the blend, delivering backbone, graphite-mineral depth and firm tannic architecture. The élevage in 100% new oak enhances complexity without overwhelming the fruit, giving the wine layers of cedar, roasted spice and tobacco. More restrained than exuberant vintages like 2009 or 2015, the 2011 impresses with finesse, structure and a long, savory finish — a wine entering a beautiful drinking window but still capable of aging further.

Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma / Nose: Blackcurrant, blackberry, plum skin, cedarwood, cigar box, graphite, espresso, smoky spice and notes of dried herbs.
Secondary
Palate / Taste: Structured and precise. Cassis, black cherry and plum mingle with cedar, dark chocolate, pencil lead, roasted coffee and subtle earthy undertones. Tannins are firm but polished, giving the wine a vertical, architectural feel.
Tertiary
Finish: Long, dry, mineral and persistent — cedar, smoke, cassis skin and graphite linger with impressive tension.
Gastronomy

Serve at 18 C, decanted for 1–1.5 hours. Mouton Rothschild 2011 pairs beautifully with refined, savory dishes: rack of lamb, duck breast with blackberry reduction, venison, beef Wellington, rib-eye steak, mushroom ragout or truffle dishes.
