Tasting Characteristics

Pierre Bleue takes its name from the ancient blue granite soils of Lantignié — a terroir that gives Gamay unusual depth and precision. Frédéric Berne works with minimal intervention, using native yeasts and gentle infusion to highlight the grape’s natural energy without heaviness. Stainless steel and cement ageing keep the wine pure, while the mineral grip of the site adds definition. The 2023 vintage is bright yet serious: floral aromatics, concentrated fruit and a lingering, stony backbone.

Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma / Nose: Violet, raspberry, black cherry, crushed stone, sweet spices and a subtle herbal edge.
Secondary
Palate / Taste: Medium-bodied, silky yet firm. Ripe red and dark berries interplay with floral notes and cool mineral tension. Tannins are fine and lightly gripping, acidity fresh and well-knit.
Tertiary
Finish: Long, precise and mineral — cherry skin, granite dust and floral tones lingering elegantly.
Gastronomy

Serve at 14–15°C. Pierre Bleue 2023 pairs beautifully with roast duck, grilled lamb chops, charcuterie, beef tartare, mushroom dishes, herby poultry, truffle pasta and soft, earthy cheeses. The wine’s mineral structure and floral lift offer versatility that suits both rustic bistro cuisine and refined modern dishes.
