Tasting CharacteristicsLes Terrasses comes from steep, granitic slopes in one of the highest and coolest crus of Beaujolais. Frédéric Berne works with minimal intervention to preserve the wine’s bright, crystalline fruit and the tension typical of Chiroubles. The 2023 vintage shows excellent natural freshness, gentle extraction, and the kind of aromatic precision this terroir is known for.
Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma/Nose: Fresh redcurrants, crushed raspberries, violets, and a touch of white pepper with a light granitic minerality.
Secondary
Palate/Taste: Silky, energetic, and refined. Red berries and cherry skin lead with herbal lift and subtle florals. The structure is delicate but confident, carried by fine acidity and ultra-soft tannins.
Tertiary
Finish: Clean, luminous, and quietly persistent, leaving a trace of minerality and red fruit purity.
GastronomyServe slightly chilled (around 13–14 C) to highlight its precision. Its freshness and delicate tannins make it ideal for lighter dishes: roasted chicken with herbs, seared tuna, carpaccio, grilled vegetables, or soft cheeses like Chaource. The wine’s red-fruit brightness lifts savory-herbal profiles, while its subtle spice complements charcuterie or mushroom-based dishes without overpowering them.
