Tasting Characteristics

The 2023 Pinot Gris from Domaine G.Metz draws on Alsace’s tradition of expressive whites from ancient vines on limestone and sandstone soils. Minimal intervention and gentle vinification let the grape speak: the result is a wine that marries fresh fruit clarity with subtle texture and mineral nuance.

Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma/Nose: Delicate notes of ripe pear, yellow apple, peach, light citrus peel and a faint undergrowth or toasty nuance hinting at gentle aging or lees contact. There’s also a clean mineral tone.
Secondary
Palate/Taste: Medium-bodied with a soft, round texture but bright acidity, offering flavors of yellow orchard fruit — pear, peach — balanced by subtle citrus freshness and mineral undercurrent. The wine shows both ripeness and tension.
Tertiary
Finish: Fresh and elegant, with a lingering mineral thread and soft fruit-driven farewell. Fine balance between fruit, acidity and mineral clarity.
Gastronomy

Serve chilled, around 10–12 C, to highlight its freshness and aromatic subtlety. This Pinot Gris is excellent with white meat in creamy sauces, poultry, veal, dishes based on mushrooms, light cream-based pastas, or baked fish. It also matches well with mild cheeses or lighter, herbaceous dishes. Because of its clarity and mineral freshness, it works beautifully as an aperitif or with veggie-forward cuisine.
