Tasting Characteristics

Lighea 2024 is Donnafugata’s dry Zibibbo, crafted from early-harvest grapes to retain tension and aromatic purity. Unlike Pantelleria’s famous sweet wines, this version is crisp, floral and savoury, highlighting the grape’s natural exuberance without sweetness. Stainless-steel vinification preserves freshness, while lees ageing adds texture and charm. It’s an aromatic white with island personality — vibrant, perfumed and refreshingly Mediterranean.

Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma/Nose: Orange blossom, jasmine, lemon zest, mandarin peel, white peach, wild herbs and a gentle salty breeze characteristic of Pantelleria.
Secondary
Palate/Taste: Fresh, silky and bright. Flavours of citrus (lemon, orange), nectarine, lychee and floral notes. The palate shows lively acidity, subtle Mediterranean herbs and a delicate mineral underpinning, giving both lift and elegance.
Tertiary
Finish: Clean, floral, citrus-driven and lightly saline, with a lingering exotic-fruit echo.
Gastronomy

Serve at 8–10°C. Lighea is a natural companion for seafood and aromatic dishes: prawns, calamari, octopus salad, citrus-marinated fish, sushi, ceviche, couscous with vegetables, Mediterranean salads, goat cheese and lightly spiced Asian cuisine. Its perfumed profile enhances vibrant, fresh flavours.
