Tasting CharacteristicsSherazade 2023 showcases the softer, fruit-driven side of Nero d’Avola. Vinified entirely in stainless steel, it emphasizes freshness, purity and aromatic lift rather than structure or power. Donnafugata captures a playful yet precise expression of the grape: floral notes, vivid red fruit, subtle spice and a breezy, coastal brightness. It’s an approachable, modern Sicilian red with vibrant character.
Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma/Nose: Fresh cherry, pomegranate, wild strawberry, rose petals, Mediterranean herbs, subtle spice and a gentle balsamic whisper.
Secondary
Palate/Taste: Soft, juicy and lively. Flavours of red berries, plum, cherry skin, sweet spice and herbal tones. Tannins are silky and light; acidity is refreshing and balanced. The palate is smooth yet energetic, with a youthful Mediterranean charm.
Tertiary
Finish: Medium, fruity-spicy, with lingering cherry and herbal brightness.
GastronomyServe at 15–17°C. Sherazade is a versatile companion for everyday cuisine: grilled chicken, tuna steak, roasted vegetables, pasta alla norma, pizza margherita, caponata, charcuterie and soft cheeses. Its juicy fruit and gentle tannins make it ideal for lighter meats and flavourful Mediterranean dishes.
