Il Poggiale is Castellare’s historic single-vineyard Chianti Classico Riserva, sourced from elevated parcels where Sangiovese ripens slowly and develops exceptional aromatic precision. The estate famously avoids barrique, opting instead for traditional large casks to preserve purity of fruit and terroir-driven minerality. The 2021 vintage shows remarkable balance — concentrated yet linear, elegant yet undeniably Tuscan — capturing the essence of Castellare’s artisanal winemaking philosophy.

Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma / Nose: Vibrant sour cherry, black raspberry, dried violets, cedar, and gentle tobacco, lifted by earthy mineral tones.
Secondary
Palate / Taste: Silky yet structured, opening with red cherry and blood orange zest, followed by hints of pomegranate, tea leaf, and subtle spice. Fine-grained tannins and energetic acidity give the wine drive and clarity.
Tertiary
Finish: Long, savory, and mineral-defined, echoing cherry skin, dried herbs, and terracotta warmth.
Gastronomy

Serve slightly cool (16–17 C) to sharpen the wine’s floral and mineral components. Its vivid acidity and fine tannins make it ideal for classic Tuscan dishes — pappardelle al cinghiale, grilled bistecca tagliata, rosemary pork loin, or tomato-based ragù.
