Tasting Characteristics

Brugal 1888 is a tribute to Dominican heritage and over 130 years of rum craftsmanship, masterfully blending two aging traditions. Aged first in ex-bourbon barrels and then refined in PX sherry casks, it offers a deep, layered profile. The aroma reveals caramel, roasted coffee, and dried figs, while the palate unfolds with dark chocolate, toffee, cinnamon, and sweet oak. The finish is long, smooth, and sophisticated — a seamless balance of warmth and elegance, embodying the legacy of the Brugal family since 1888.

Aromas and flavours:

Primary

Aroma/Nose: Toffee, vanilla, roasted coffee, and sherry-dried fruits.

Secondary

Palate/Taste: Full and elegant — cocoa, caramel, and gentle spice.

Tertiary

Finish: Long, silky, and warm with sherry sweetness.

Gastronomy

Best enjoyed neat or over a large ice cube to appreciate its velvety structure and sherry finish. Ideal for refined cocktails like Rum Old Fashioned, Rum Manhattan, or Espresso Rumtini. Pairs beautifully with dark chocolate, roasted nuts, or cigars, and also with aged cheeses or caramel desserts. Brugal 1888 is not just a rum — it’s a Dominican icon, designed for those who savor depth and distinction.
