Tasting CharacteristicsLunatico Primitivo is a textbook expression of Puglia’s sun-driven style. Primitivo thrives in this climate, delivering naturally high ripeness and concentration without the need for aggressive winemaking. The focus here is on approachability: plush fruit, moderate structure, and a round, polished mouthfeel. Oak, if used, stays in the background, supporting texture rather than shaping flavor. This is not a restrained or mineral-driven red—it is built for comfort, immediacy, and broad appeal.
Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma / Nose: Ripe black cherry, plum, and blackberry dominate, supported by hints of sweet spice, cocoa, and a touch of dried herbs.
Secondary
Palate / Taste: Full and smooth on entry, with dark fruit, soft acidity, and rounded tannins. The texture is supple, almost velvety, with subtle notes of chocolate and spice adding depth without bitterness.
Tertiary
Finish: Medium to long, warming and fruit-driven, finishing on ripe berries and gentle spice.
GastronomyServe at 16–18°C. This Primitivo pairs best with hearty, flavorful dishes where richness is welcome. Grilled or roasted meats, burgers, and slow-cooked beef or pork match its weight and ripeness, while tomato-based pasta dishes benefit from its fruit and warmth. Semi-hard and aged cheeses complement its round tannins and dark-fruit profile, making it an easy choice for casual dinners and comfort-focused cuisine.
