Tasting CharacteristicsMarto Manna 2022 is a joyful snapshot of Rheinhessen’s natural wine movement — expressive, unfiltered, and full of personality. A skin-contact field blend that dances between white and orange, it bursts with citrus, apricot, and herbal tea tones, underpinned by a gentle grip and saline freshness. Each sip unfolds organically, moving from fruit purity to savory texture. It’s wild but precise, rustic yet beautifully balanced — a living wine that captures energy more than perfection.
Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma/Nose:: Lively and untamed — aromas of ripe apricot, candied citrus peel, chamomile, and green tea unfold with hints of dried herbs, orchard fruit, and a subtle oxidative note of honeyed nuts.
Secondary
Palate/Taste:: Textured and vibrant, combining ripe stone fruit and citrus zest with herbal spice and light tannic grip. Layers of orange peel, tea leaf, and wildflowers evolve across a slightly creamy yet taut palate.
Tertiary
Finish: Long, savory, and mineral, echoing dried fruit, bitter orange, and saline herbs. The tactile finish is both mouthwatering and slightly earthy — a signature of Marto’s minimal-intervention style.
GastronomyA natural companion to vibrant, aromatic cuisine, Marto Manna 2022 pairs beautifully with roasted root vegetables, spiced chickpeas, grilled halloumi, or falafel. The textured palate complements creamy curries, pumpkin soup, and lightly spiced tagines, while the herbal freshness balances Asian salads, Vietnamese rolls, or Mediterranean tapas. Its soft tannins and dry, savory finish also work well with semi-aged cheeses or mushroom risotto. Best served lightly chilled (10–12 °C) — not too cold, allowing its wild aromatics to breathe.
