Tasting CharacteristicsA signature blend honouring Masataka Taketsuru, the founder of Japanese whisky, Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt marries the robust, peated spirit of Yoichi with the soft, fruity malt of Miyagikyo. The result is an elegant, harmonious whisky that defines the Japanese art of blending.
Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma/Nose: Dried fruit, orange peel, malt, and vanilla with hints of nutmeg, oak, and light smoke.
Secondary
Palate/Taste: Smooth and rounded – layers of honey, malt, sherry richness, cocoa, and gentle peat intertwine with oak spice.
Tertiary
Finish: Long and balanced, with lingering malt sweetness, sherry warmth, and subtle smoke.
GastronomyPerfect neat or with a splash of water to open its layered complexity. Excellent alongside sushi, smoked salmon, or grilled duck. For dessert, pair with dark chocolate or crème caramel — its balance of fruit, spice, and smoke complements sweet and savoury notes alike.
