Tasting CharacteristicsBrunello di Montalcino Pianrosso by Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona stands among Tuscany’s finest expressions of Sangiovese. It’s both powerful and graceful — a wine that commands attention with its aromatic depth and textural finesse. Ripe cherry and plum meet earth, spice, and cedar, framed by velvety tannins and vibrant acidity. Each sip carries a sense of time and place — sunlit Tuscan hills, ancient soil, and masterful craft. A wine of quiet strength and long, contemplative beauty.
Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma/Nose: Deep and seductive, with aromas of black cherry, plum, dried roses, and tobacco leaf. Notes of cedar, truffle, and Mediterranean herbs unfold slowly, joined by leather, cinnamon, and a hint of balsamic warmth.
Secondary
Palate/Taste: Elegant yet robust — rich red fruit, earth, and spice glide across a framework of refined tannins. Layers of cherry liqueur, fig, and sweet tobacco emerge, balanced by lively acidity and subtle minerality. The oak aging adds structure and polish without overshadowing the purity of fruit.
Tertiary
Finish: Exceptionally long, unfolding in waves of dried fruit, spice, and savory umami tones, with echoes of graphite and cedar.
GastronomyPianrosso’s layered structure makes it the perfect companion to aged meats, game, and refined Tuscan cuisine. Pair it with Bistecca alla Fiorentina, braised short ribs, or venison stew, where its firm tannins and savory core match richness and depth. It also shines with truffle risotto, aged Parmigiano-Reggiano, and wild mushroom dishes, or simply alongside a fine cigar and good company. Decant at least 1–2 hours before serving at 18 °C to fully reveal its harmony and complexity.
