Tasting CharacteristicsDonna Olimpia Bolgheri Rosso 2021 marries classic Bordeaux grapes with Tuscan sunlight and sea-cooled breezes. The vineyards sit on gravelly soils close to the Tyrrhenian coast, producing fruit of depth and aromatic purity. The wine matures in French oak for one year, gaining subtle spice and roundness without losing its fresh, Bolgheri-style elegance. The 2021 vintage stands out for clarity, structure and beautifully defined fruit.
Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma/Nose: Black cherry, ripe plum, blackberry, cedar, sweet tobacco, Mediterranean herbs and a hint of graphite.
Secondary
Palate/Taste: Medium-plus body with smooth tannins and refined balance. Flavours of dark berries, plum, cassis, baking spice, cocoa and a savoury, herbal backbone. The oak is integrated, adding gentle warmth and texture. Acidity is well-measured, giving lift to the ripe fruit.
Tertiary
Finish: Long and harmonious, with persistent black fruit, spice and a mineral-dark chocolate echo.
GastronomyServe at 16–18 C. This Bolgheri Rosso is ideal with grilled steak, roast lamb, beef ragù, braised short ribs, mushroom risotto, truffle dishes or aged cheeses. Its ripe fruit and polished tannins pair beautifully with rich, umami-driven cuisine.
