Tasting CharacteristicsDuckhorn’s 2022 Chardonnay is sourced from select vineyards across Napa Valley, bringing together cool-climate freshness and valley-floor richness. Fermentation in French oak with lees stirring adds depth, texture and subtle toast, while preserving lively acidity. The result is a wine with California generosity but crafted in a measured, polished style: vibrant fruit, creamy mid-palate and a long, mineral-citrus finish.
Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma/Nose: Lemon curd, ripe pear, golden apple, white peach, honeysuckle, brioche, vanilla and toasted almond.
Secondary
Palate/Taste: Smooth and vibrant. Juicy citrus, pear, baked apple and stone fruit unfold over a lightly creamy texture. Hints of vanilla bean, toasted oak and almond add complexity. Acidity is precise, lifting the richness and creating a harmonious, elegant structure.
Tertiary
Finish: Medium-long, fresh and refined, with lingering citrus, pear and delicate oak spice.
GastronomyServe at 10–12°C. This Chardonnay pairs beautifully with roasted chicken, grilled shrimp, seared scallops, creamy pastas, lobster rolls, risotto with spring vegetables, mild curries and soft to semi-hard cheeses. Its balance of creaminess and acidity suits both rich and delicately seasoned dishes.
