Tasting CharacteristicsRicasoli Brolio Chianti Classico Riserva 2019 represents one of the historic benchmarks of the appellation. Produced primarily from Sangiovese grown around Castello di Brolio, the wine reflects the estate’s long-standing focus on structure, balance, and terroir expression. The 2019 vintage delivers excellent ripeness paired with freshness, while careful oak aging adds depth and polish without obscuring varietal character. This is a traditional yet precise Riserva, built for aging but already showing harmony.
Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma/Nose: Red cherry, sour cherry, and dried cranberry lead, followed by notes of violet, dried herbs, tobacco, and subtle cedar.
Secondary
Palate/Taste: Medium-plus bodied and firmly structured, with vibrant red fruit, savory spice, and a distinctly Tuscan earthy note. Tannins are fine-grained and persistent, providing grip and longevity, while fresh acidity keeps the palate focused and linear.
Tertiary
Finish: Long, dry, and layered, with lingering red fruit, herbal tones, and a refined oak nuance that fades gradually.
GastronomyServe at 16–18°C and consider a short decant to soften the tannins and open the aromatics. This Riserva excels with classic Tuscan cuisine: grilled steak, roast beef, wild boar, or lamb with herbs. Tomato-based dishes and aged hard cheeses also work well, as acidity and tannin interact naturally with savory, umami-rich flavors.
