Tasting CharacteristicsChâteau Ripeau 2020 is a bold and modern expression of Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, where the richness of Merlot meets the structure of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2020 vintage, known for its concentration and balance, gives this wine an opulent texture while maintaining remarkable freshness. Crafted with precision and care, it reflects the château’s new generation philosophy — elegance rooted in intensity, and finesse shaped by time in oak and limestone soil.
Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma/Nose: Deep aromas of black cherry, cassis, and blueberry blend with notes of violet, graphite, and fine cocoa. As it opens, hints of cedar, spice, and truffle add complexity and depth.
Secondary
Palate/Taste: Full-bodied and velvety, revealing layers of ripe dark fruit, espresso, and black pepper. The tannins are polished yet firm, carrying a refined balance of richness and minerality.
Tertiary
Finish: Long and harmonious, with lingering notes of mocha, plum, and subtle oak sweetness.
GastronomyChâteau Ripeau 2020 is a wine that commands the table. Its depth and structure pair beautifully with slow-braised short ribs, beef tenderloin with red wine reduction, or roast lamb with rosemary and garlic. It also complements dishes with earthy intensity — think mushroom risotto, duck breast with fig compote, or truffle pasta. For cheese pairings, try aged Gouda, Ossau-Iraty, or a creamy blue like Fourme d’Ambert. Its refined tannins and layered flavors make it ideal for celebratory meals, where every sip deepens the conversation and the pleasure of the moment.
