Tasting CharacteristicsA masterclass in vintage Champagne – poised and refined, with aristocratic tension and a depth that evolves over time.
La Grande Dame 2015 embodies the pinnacle of Veuve Clicquot`s art in blending and vintage selection. Drawn from historic Grand Cru vineyards, this cuvée leans heavily on Pinot Noir to impart verticality, structure and depth, while Chardonnay adds finesse and elegance. Created only in the finest years, this vintage reflects 2015’s exceptional sunshine – delivering ripeness, harmony and promising ageing potential.
Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma / Nose: Bright yet refined - fresh minerality with delicate floral notes of jasmine and acacia. Underneath, subtle ripe pear and clementine emerge, hinting at complexity and finesse.
Secondary
Palate / Taste: On the palate, La Grande Dame 2015 reveals a silky texture and elegant structure. The wine’s tension is evident - crisp acidity balanced by mature depth, delivering flavours of pear, citrus, light orchard fruit, with a refined mineral backbone. The mousse is fine, the body precise yet generous.
Tertiary
Finish: Long, mineral-driven and lingering, leaving impressions of citrus peel, chalky terroir minerality and subtle floral echoes - a finish that invites contemplation and slow enjoyment.
GastronomyServe chilled (10-12 C) in a large tulip or classic Champagne glass to reveal its full aromatic depth and structural elegance. La Grande Dame 2015 is a gastronomic Champagne – perfect with refined seafood like seared scallops in saffron cream sauce, turbot with beurre blanc, or langoustines. For a vegetarian path, it shines with truffle risotto or creamy mushroom dishes. On the lighter side – fresh oysters, caviar, or ceviche. For a more indulgent finish, pair it with almond tart or a citrus-filled mille-feuille to mirror its bright and nutty nuances.
