Tasting CharacteristicsBorgogno Barolo DOCG 2019 represents one of the most classical interpretations of Nebbiolo in Piedmont. Sourced from multiple historic vineyards across the Barolo zone, the wine is vinified using long macerations and aged exclusively in large Slavonian oak casks. This approach preserves varietal purity and terroir expression while building formidable structure and aging potential. The 2019 vintage delivers clarity and tension, combining ripe fruit with disciplined tannins and vibrant acidity. This is Barolo without shortcuts—patient, uncompromising, and built to evolve.
Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma/Nose: Rose petal, sour cherry, and dried strawberry, layered with notes of tar, anise, dried herbs, tobacco, and subtle earthy spice.
Secondary
Palate/Taste: Full-bodied and tightly structured, with firm, finely grained tannins and bright acidity. Red fruit and savory elements unfold gradually, supported by a pronounced mineral core and classical Nebbiolo grip. The wine favors precision and persistence over immediate generosity.
Tertiary
Finish: Very long, dry, and layered, with lingering red fruit, herbal bitterness, and a stony, mouthwatering close that signals serious aging potential.
GastronomyServe at 16–18°C and decant for at least 2 hours, especially in youth. Borgogno Barolo pairs best with braised beef, veal, lamb, game, and dishes featuring mushrooms or truffles. Its tannic structure and acidity also complement aged hard cheeses. This is a wine for slow, food-driven drinking and long conversations at the table.
