Le Petit Cheval 2011

Le Petit Cheval 2011, the distinguished second wine of Château Cheval Blanc, captures the essence of Saint-Émilion’s limestone and clay terroir with grace and precision. Crafted from Merlot and Cabernet Franc, it mirrors the Grand Vin’s finesse while offering earlier approachability. The 2011 vintage brings freshness, supple texture, and complexity — a seamless harmony of fruit, spice, and silky structure that reflects the estate’s quiet mastery.

Le Petit Cheval 2011 is a quintessential pairing for refined French cuisine and earthy, aromatic dishes. Its supple texture and floral lift beautifully complement roast duck with cherry sauce, beef tenderloin in red wine jus, or veal medallions with morel mushrooms. For a plant-based pairing, try wild mushroom risotto or roasted root vegetables with thyme — the wine’s balance of fruit and minerality enhances umami depth. Aged Comté, truffled brie, or duck rillettes make exquisite companions for its subtle spice and elegance. Best served slightly below room temperature after 45 minutes of decanting, allowing its intricate bouquet to fully bloom.
