Tasting CharacteristicsTenute Orestiadi Etna Rosso is built around Nerello Mascalese grown on the lava-rich slopes of Mount Etna, where altitude and volcanic soils define the wine’s personality. The style favors elegance and structure over power, with restrained extraction and careful aging designed to preserve freshness and terroir expression. Rather than southern richness, this Etna Rosso leans toward a Burgundian sensibility—linear, mineral, and precise—showing the mountain’s unique influence rather than varietal weight.
Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma/Nose: Red cherry, wild strawberry, and cranberry, layered with notes of dried herbs, volcanic ash, iron, and a subtle smoky nuance.
Secondary
Palate/Taste: Medium-bodied and finely structured, with bright red fruit, savory herbal tones, and a distinct mineral backbone. Tannins are fine-grained and chalky, while acidity remains vivid and lifting, giving the wine tension and clarity.
Tertiary
Finish: Long, dry, and mineral-driven, with lingering red fruit, iron-like notes, and a clean volcanic echo.
GastronomyServe at 14–16°C to highlight freshness and aromatic detail. A brief decant can help the wine open. Etna Rosso pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, pork, mushroom-based dishes, grilled vegetables, and refined Mediterranean cuisine. Its acidity and mineral structure also make it an excellent match for lighter game and semi-aged cheeses, where balance matters more than power.
