Tasting Characteristics

Méline 2024 highlights one of Savoie’s most intriguing grapes: Mondeuse Blanche, the nearly extinct parent of Syrah. In Adrien Berlioz’s hands, it becomes a wine of purity and refinement — understated at first, but layered with alpine tension, floral lift and chalky precision. Stainless-steel vinification and lees contact give subtle creaminess without masking the grape’s naturally vertical structure. This 2024 vintage shows clarity, restraint and a slow-building complexity that rewards attention.

Aromas and flavours:

Primary

Aroma / Nose: Lemon peel, white peach, mountain herbs, white flowers, crushed stone, almond skin and a hint of savory wax.

Secondary

Palate / Taste: Bright, precise and slightly creamy from lees ageing. Citrus and orchard fruit interplay with herbal tones, saline minerality and a faint waxy texture — a hallmark of Mondeuse Blanche. Acidity is lively and alpine, giving the wine tension and lift.

Tertiary

Finish: Long, clean and subtly savory — citrus zest, mineral dust and herbal nuances linger with elegance.

Gastronomy

Serve at 9–11 С. Méline 2024 pairs beautifully with alpine and refined dishes: lake fish (pike-perch, trout), scallops, sushi, fresh cheeses (especially chèvre), vegetable risotto, chicken with herbs, creamy polenta, roasted root vegetables or dishes with citrus and thyme. Its combination of minerality and gentle texture makes it ideal for subtly flavored cuisine.
