Tasting CharacteristicsTenute Orestiadi Gibellina Cataratto 2023 presents one of Sicily’s most traditional white varieties in a precise, contemporary style. Grown around Gibellina in western Sicily, the vines benefit from warm days tempered by sea breezes, preserving freshness and aromatic clarity. Stainless-steel vinification keeps the wine focused on purity, acidity, and mineral definition rather than weight or sweetness. This is Cataratto as a table wine: dry, versatile, and firmly gastronomic.
Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma/Nose: Lemon zest, green apple, and pear, supported by notes of white flowers, Mediterranean herbs, and a subtle saline touch.
Secondary
Palate/Taste: Dry and medium-bodied, showing citrus and orchard fruit with fresh, linear acidity. A light mineral edge adds structure, while the overall profile remains clean and restrained.
Tertiary
Finish: Fresh and dry, with lingering citrus, gentle herbal notes, and a crisp, mineral close.
GastronomyServe well chilled at 8–10°C to emphasize freshness and clarity. This Cataratto works effortlessly with seafood, grilled or baked fish, shellfish, and simple Mediterranean dishes based on vegetables, olive oil, and herbs. Its dry profile and balanced acidity also make it a strong aperitif and a reliable companion for light lunches and warm-weather meals.
