Tasting CharacteristicsTramin Unterebner Pinot Grigio Alto Adige DOC 2022 is one of the reference wines for the variety, sourced from a single historic vineyard near Tramin. High-altitude conditions, limestone-rich soils, and long growing seasons give the wine depth and natural tension. Fermentation and maturation on fine lees, partly in large oak casks, add texture and complexity without overt oak flavor. This is Pinot Grigio built with intent—layered, gastronomic, and distinctly Alto Adige.
Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma/Nose: Ripe pear, yellow apple, and quince, layered with notes of chamomile, almond skin, light smoke, and crushed stone.
Secondary
Palate/Taste: Medium-plus bodied and structured, showing orchard fruit, subtle nuttiness, and a pronounced mineral backbone. Acidity is firm and linear, giving the wine grip and longevity rather than softness.
Tertiary
Finish: Long, dry, and precise, with lingering fruit, mineral tension, and a slightly savory, almond-toned close.
GastronomyServe at 10–12°C to allow the wine’s structure and complexity to unfold. Unterebner Pinot Grigio pairs beautifully with refined fish dishes, shellfish, poultry, veal, and alpine cuisine. Its mineral structure and textural depth also make it an excellent match for mushroom-based dishes and semi-aged cheeses. This is a Pinot Grigio meant for the table, not just the glass.
