Tasting CharacteristicsKleine Zalze Family Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 is a benchmark Stellenbosch red — powerful yet graceful, born from low-yield vines and long oak maturation. It reveals deep layers of black fruit, graphite, and cedar wrapped in polished tannins and restrained elegance. The wine’s fine balance between concentration and freshness reflects its terroir perfectly — classic, confident, and built to age.
Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma/Nose: Powerful and refined — aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and plum layered with cedar, graphite, and subtle tobacco leaf. Hints of vanilla and dark chocolate from fine oak.
Secondary
Palate/Taste: Concentrated and textured, with rich black fruit, cassis, and dark cherry framed by elegant oak spice. The tannins are silky yet structured, carrying depth and finesse.
Tertiary
Finish: Long and elegant, with lingering notes of cassis, espresso, and cigar box warmth.
GastronomyA natural match for roasted meats, aged cheeses, and rich stews. Serve with beef ribeye, lamb shank, or venison in red wine reduction. Its dark fruit and oak structure also complement mature cheddar or mushroom risotto. Best enjoyed decanted, served at 18 °C — a wine made for refined dinners and contemplative moments.
