Tasting CharacteristicsSella & Mosca Cala Reale Vermentino di Sardegna DOC 2023 represents the lighter, more immediate side of Vermentino from Sardinia. Produced in a warm coastal climate moderated by sea breezes, the wine emphasizes clarity, citrus-driven fruit, and clean structure. Stainless-steel vinification preserves aromatic purity and a crisp profile, making this an uncomplicated yet well-crafted expression designed for everyday enjoyment and warm-weather drinking.
Aromas and flavours:
Primary
Aroma/Nose: Fresh aromas of lemon zest, lime, green apple, and white peach, supported by subtle floral notes and a light Mediterranean herbal touch.
Secondary
Palate/Taste: Dry, crisp, and refreshing. Citrus and orchard fruit dominate, with gentle herbal bitterness typical of Vermentino. Acidity is lively but balanced, keeping the palate clean and energetic without sharpness.
Tertiary
Finish: Clean and dry, with lingering citrus, a hint of salinity, and a refreshing mineral close.
GastronomyServe well chilled at 8–10°C to highlight freshness and aromatic lift. Cala Reale is ideal as an aperitif and pairs effortlessly with seafood, grilled fish, shellfish, and light Mediterranean dishes. Its crisp acidity and saline edge also work well with salads, vegetable starters, and fresh cheeses, making it a versatile choice for casual meals and summer occasions.
