Tasting Characteristics

Thanisch Lieserer Rosenlay Riesling Kabinett Trocken 2023 comes from the steep, slate-rich Rosenlay site in Lieser, a terroir known for tension rather than opulence. Kabinett Trocken here is not about sweetness or weight, but about finesse, low alcohol, and exacting balance. Cool-climate conditions and careful picking preserve acidity and aromatic definition, while stainless-steel vinification keeps the profile clean and transparent. This is classic Mosel logic: light on its feet, serious in structure.

Aromas and flavours:

Primary

Aroma/Nose: Green apple, lime zest, white peach, and lemon blossom, layered with crushed slate and a subtle herbal note.

Secondary

Palate/Taste: Dry, light to medium-bodied, and incisive. Citrus and orchard fruit are framed by vibrant acidity and a clear mineral spine. The texture is taut and linear, with no excess ripeness or sweetness.

Tertiary

Finish: Long, clean, and stony, with lingering citrus, saline minerality, and a crisp, mouthwatering close.

Gastronomy

Serve well chilled at 8–10°C to emphasize tension and aromatic lift. This Riesling excels with seafood, shellfish, oysters, and delicate fish dishes. Its acidity and low alcohol also make it a strong match for light Asian cuisine, salads, and fresh cheeses. Ideal as an aperitif when dryness and precision matter more than power.
