Tasting Characteristics

Ironstone Chardonnay Reserve 2020 reflects California sunshine and the region’s moderate warmth balanced by careful winemaking. Barrel fermentation and partial oak ageing add body, texture and subtle spice, while maintaining bright fruitiness and drinkability. This is a Chardonnay that blends New World generosity with classically shaped structure — ideal for those who like a fuller, oak-accented white.

Aromas and flavours:

Primary

Aroma/Nose: Ripe apple, pear, golden peach, vanilla, toasted almond, light buttered brioche and a hint of oak-driven spice.

Secondary

Palate/Taste: Medium+ body, smooth and round. Flavours of baked apple, pear, yellow peach, creamy vanilla, light oak toast and soft spice. Texture is velvety with a subtle buttery undertone; acidity remains fresh but mellowed by oak influence.

Tertiary

Finish: Medium-long, with lingering orchard fruit, light oak spice and creamy texture fading gently.

Gastronomy

Serve at 10–12 °C. This Chardonnay suits roasted chicken, turkey breast, pork tenderloin, grilled shrimp, creamy pasta, lobster in butter sauce, seafood gratin, mild cheeses, butternut squash risotto. Its creamy texture and balanced fruit-oak profile match both rich and gently spiced dishes.
